This portfolio contains five photographs of urban and industrial New York City taken during the 1940s. The images were selected by Miles Barth, Curator of the Archives and Collections, International Center of Photography. Of his fifty years as a professional photogapher, Mr. Feininger spent twenty on the staff of LIFE magazine where he completed 438 assignments, and has published over forty photographic books and instructional guides. His photographs have been exhibited in galleries and museum throughout the world and he is recognized by his peers as one of the greatest photojournalists of the twentieth century.
